Summer Palettes… and Asters.
Seed Selections for Summer

The last of the seeds have came in the mail. These are the heat loving flowers of the growing season. I have arranged my selections in “palettes” that I think will look lovely, especially excited to pair these beauties with the sunflower varieties I have planned to grow in successions until frost. Which do you like best… Soft, pink, romantic? Bright, bold, lots of texture? A cheerful mix of color (really compliments the lemon-lime hues I the queens zinnias I love).

Last year I dabbled in growing asters. I started them way too early. They were stout and beautiful, but they took up a lot of bedspace for an unnecessary length of time. Now I know… learning something new everyday it seems.
This year I picked several white and butter colors, as I’m finding white flowers can be needed often for specific floral work. I decided on the tower chamois because it looks like a peony. So delicate looking! Since the latter was kind of the color of my asters from last year, I decided on giving the lady coral a chance… I don’t have a lot of purple flowers at the end of the year. I think this will look nice with the fancy white sunflowers, and that first romantic palette I posted above. Wish me luck on this new endeavor, as I try to get more serious about successions. I’ve planned three separate starting times for these beauties, so I’ll have a variety throughout summer and fall.

Last year’s King Size Apricot China Asters…

Last year‘s asters were way more romantic than a standard daisy, although they have that yellow center. They mixed so well with so many other hues.
